'I
was really sorry to hear about John's passing.
Reading the tributes made me realize how much
music means to people and how tough it is to lose
someone who's touched so many lives. I ran across
John while in the army in Germany in the early
70's; I brought the
Everything stops for Tea
vinyl home, and wore it out through lots of events
in my life - hanging out, partying, getting
married, having kids, and, especially, my
mother-in-law's lengthy illness, funeral, and
wake. "Patiently Waiting for Jesus to Come"
became kind of a family anthem during a tough
week. I've been keeping my ordering of the CD a
secret - I was (am) planning on springing it on
the family at the next gathering. Knowing that
Long John is "up there" changes the dynamic a
little - a little sadder, more poignant. But none
of us are here forever, and he and my
mother-in-law made a difference when they were
here. So we celebrate that part, anyway. Hang in
there'.

'I
appreciate that you let us know about this tremendous
loss. On behalf of the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame and Museum, I want to offer condolences to
his family and friends. He is remembered here for
his great contributions. I'm sorry that we ended up
having a schedule conflict last year and were not able
to bring him to Cleveland. I send regards to you and,
again, thank you for passing along this sad news.'

Warren Zanes/VP of

'Hey Frank, very sorry for the loss of your friend,
Long John Baldry, as you and him go way back.
I remember you shooting the video
'Silent
Treatment'
back in the 80's (you even hired me as a helper).
Life is too short at its longest as I recall
speaking with him in the dressing room at the
Black Box Studio just last year where we both
performed. He was a gentleman, a real Bluesman and
a unique performer, never to be duplicated. The
music world has lost a giant in more than one
sense of the word. God bless.'

'It
was with great sadness that I heard of John's
passing. I met John in London at a music
magazine's 'Meet the stars' session and although
John seemed out of his depth in a small room full
of simpering teenage girls, he was charming, witty
and a perfect gentleman. I shall cherish the
autograph he signed then and a couple of very
silly photos of John trying to brush my hair. My
love and prayers to all John's family and
friends.'

'John’s family, and close friends, all have my
deepest sympathies. I discovered his music in the
early ‘70’s, in college. I will always be grateful
for that, and I will be listening to his music for
years to come. God bless Long John Baldry.'
