Today at
work one of my colleagues told me the news about LJB and
it put me in a state of absolute shock. I don't read the
papers as much as I should and missed the news. His
music has inspired me in so many ways not just in my
writing but in my attitude to life in general. There was
a pure joy in his work that when you heard it made not
just your day brighter but your whole life. I will miss
him greatly. Please send my
condolences to his family and let them know that John's
music will never fade. He's with a really boss band now!
God Bless You.

Sorry to hear about the passing of
Long John Baldry...it is a sad moment in time...but I do
know that John will always be alive in our hearts and
souls for many years to come. I met john back in the
early 80's...I was simply overwhelmed to meet what I
considered a living legend at the time...yet John made
me feel like I had been a friend for years. I made a
point of trying to see John playing live when ever he
performed through the Prairie provinces. Long John
Baldry is one of those guys who, as many might say, were
larger than life ...but he was to me the one true
legend. Rest in peace John.

I am truly sorry that John has died; the world has lost
one of it's greatest musicians and, for me, it is the
final passing of my youth. He was a hero of mine, I his
most ardent fan. And when he used to step down from the
stage in The Refectory, Golders Green, to dance with me,
I was in heaven. It was probably because I was over six
feet tall in heels that he picked me and was able to
sing in my ear 'I'm a king bee, buzzin' around your
hive'. I am so sorry.

As a 30 year radio broadcaster, I had the pleasure of
meeting many of my musical idols - but meeting your
friend John was special. He had a rare gift - and we are
all the luckier for having him making such great music,
for lo' these many years. My sincere condolences to you
and to John's near and dear ones, and you have to know
that he will always be "The King of Rock and Roll"...for
a lot of us.
